Frequently asked questions about the site

Who writes this site?

One person, named with an email address on the contact page. Prices and addresses come from official bodies and open data; the text around them is written here, page by page, from public research — it is not bulk-generated text left unreviewed.

How old is the fuel price shown here?

Every page prints the week or day the source refers to, next to the figure. DESNZ publishes a weekly national average; the Spanish, Italian and Mexican portals publish per station with daily updates; Austria uses the Commission’s weekly bulletin. If the reference on the page looks old, the newer release has not landed yet — it is not today’s price.

Why does a page say there is no open timetable for that city?

Because only some of the cities we cover publish an openly licensed GTFS feed. In the others the page says so and points at the official app, instead of showing a timetable we cannot prove. Those pages are not indexed and carry no ads.

Why do only some destinations have a page?

Because a destination only gets one once there is a real guide behind it: attractions with concrete detail, a best-season answer with a source and, where we found one, a verified freely licensed photo. Twenty guides that help beat five hundred pages of beach names and adjectives.

Where do the photos come from?

From Wikimedia Commons, under a free licence, with the author and licence printed beneath each photo. We download them and serve them from our own server. No photo appears on two pages, and a subject with no freely licensed photo simply has none.

Can I plan a trip on these figures?

Use them to compare and to find where to check. The decision has to go through the official link on the page itself: fuel prices, timetables and travel rules change, sometimes within the same day.

How does the site pay for itself?

With ads. They do not influence which cities get a page or what the text says, and no station, hotel or agency pays to be featured. We take no paid links and no sponsored posts.

I found a mistake. What do I do?

Write through the contact page, naming the page and the figure. Send the link to the official source with the right value and the correction ships the same day.
